Foam and Plaster
Plaster on Foam Board, 18 inches x 12 inches x 12 inches
This piece is inspired by the ziggurat, an ancient Mesopotamian tower that functioned as a temple. It consisted of a pyramidal like structure built in stages of terraces. A ziggurat symbolized a link between human kind and the gods. By turning the traditional ziggurat shape on itself, it serves to pose a commentary on the evolution of culture, and our disconnect from spiritualism in the modern age. This piece was created with foam board, and plaster.
